The Alfândega da Fé municipality is made up of 20 parishes and represents 4% of the Trás-os-Montes regional area, 2.7% of the population and about 5% of the total number of parishes.

 

 

 



Alfândega da Fé is located in the southern part of Bragança district, between the Serra de Bornes, the Vilariça Valley and the Sabor River Valley. Integrated in the area of Terra Quente transmontana the county, north with Macedo de Cavaleiros, south with Moncorvo, east with Mogadouro, west with Vila Flor and northwest with Mirandela.

Alfândega da Fé is an ancient land of Arab origin, acquired between the 8th and 9th centuries. It is admitted, however, that before this period there was already a settlement of castreja origin. A very viable hypothesis, since in the county area there are many traces of this and even earlier periods.
