Burgau a Santorini Portugal is probably one of the most secretive villages of the Costa Vicentina, full of white and blue painted houses, the right destination for all those who want to have an unforgettable rest day.

What you may not know is that in the Algarve there is a beach where you can find all this before explaining why Burgau is the perfect place and considered the Portuguese Santorini,  Burgau located in the Algarve region, Vila do Bispo municipality was a fishing village , currently living mainly in tourism.

 



 

Its most important attraction is the small beach of Praia de Burgau, surrounded by hills that protect it from the frequent strong wind characteristic of the Windward.

 

 



 

 

Burgau still displays traces of its former fishing village life. The main street retains some charm, running right through the village and culminating in a vast expanse of sandy cliffs and colorful fishing boats.

Unless you are here on pre-booked vacations, you will find it difficult to find summer accommodation, although signs scattered around the village advertise rooms in private homes.



The best choice is  Casa Grande,  at the upper end of the city, on the road towards Luz, which is a mansion with character.

This beach is integrated in the locality of  Burgau , in the municipality of Vila do Bispo ( Algarve ). It is characterized as an urban beach that borders the  Southwest Alentejo  and  Vicentine Coast Natural Park.






The beach of Burgau is not big. However, it has calm and transparent waters, Blue Flag 

 



 

Its arenal extends along a small sheltered cove that also acts as a fishing port. This beach, like Salema Beach, is ideal for watching fishing boats arriving from fishing, and in the surrounding restaurants you can enjoy delicious fresh fish and octopus dishes.
