Tapada Grande River Beach in the São Domingos Mine, Mértola municipality, was elected for the first time the best European destination in the "Interior" Beaches category. In addition to the best European destination award, Portugal has won 37 more of the World Travel Awards, the Oscars of Tourism.

 

This beach located in the interior of Alentejo, has blue flag and lifeguard swimmer. Parasols, picnic tables and barbecues are also available. By the beach there is a restaurant bar with terrace where you can have a refreshment or a meal. On the beach there are canoes and pedalos that you can rent to take a walk through the calm waters of the reservoir.
