Conceived from a chronological and thematic perspective and spread over three floors, the museological path covers the history of Casa Pia from its foundation in 1780 until today.
 
Supported by new technologies and based on a strong educational component, the museums mission extends to its educational service through educational workshops, guided visits and the organization of temporary exhibitions.
 
The cesar da silva library is open to any user, internal or external to the house pia de lisboa being free access to its services.
This documentary space includes the following valences:
 
multifunctional area
Of a typology corresponding to a public library, this area is free to circulate, with direct access to documentation. This area contains generalist documentation, in various media, accessible directly to all users.
It is the reference service that welcomes and distributes users,
functioning as a connecting pole between the different areas.

Specialized service at casa pia, open to all users who carry out work and studies related to casa pia and / or casapianos.
 
research area
With limited access and circulation given the value and preservation needs of the fund, this area contains the oldest and most valuable library collection documentation and is intended for researchers.
