Beach in Cacela Velha is one of the 15 best in the world Portugal Algarve

Praia da Fábrica, also known as Cacela Velha Beach, was considered one of the best in the world by the Spanish edition of Condé Nast Traveler magazine  .

The top 15 best beaches in the world were made by the journalists of the magazine, each having chosen their favorite.

In the case of Praia da Fábrica, Sara Morillo wrote: «Since 2006 every summer I have escaped to the border between Huelva and the Algarve. Then I discovered what I feel today as “my beach”. Maybe Im not the prettiest (who is) or so virgin (so is), but thats the metaphor of my happiness. ”

The journalist adds that the beach is next to Cacela Velha, «a beautiful village from which you can contemplate the dusk of the Algarve».

He explains: “Beach access has its liturgy: you park your car next to a tiny anchorage. Then a spot welcomes you on your boat (1.50 euros) to take you to a deserted island of white sands and endless shores. Around you, in the only restaurant in the harbor, you can taste the shells and oysters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. And so far I can read.

The beach is located at the extreme source of Cabanas Island, near Cacela bar, and can be reached by boat from the Cachoeira Velha Factory Site. This historic village, where it is worth appreciating the very white houses decorated with the traditional cobalt blue, was surrounded by rainfed orchards that stretch in gentle hills to the estuary.

The village grew around a medieval daughter-in-law and offers a magnificent view over the Ria Formosa, next to Fort D. Paio Peres Correia. Crossing the narrow arm of ria, the visitor is faced with a thin tongue of sand, deserted and wild, constantly changing by the action of the sea and the winds. It is in complete tranquility that one can contemplate the rich dune flora of this sandy barrier, only interrupted in places where the sea insists on climbing the natural wall, and the numerous birds that seek refuge in the dunes, such as the interrupted harlot , the turtledove, or the chirp.
