The museum, designed by Providência Design atelier, developed with the Banco de Portugal team, is based on thematic centers that focus on standard articles, money in the world and its history over the centuries, the manufacture of banknotes and coins. , and personal testimonies about the role of money in the citizens life. 

The Money Museum offers a markedly interactive experience that uses multimedia technology to showcase its collection. Unconventional museography bets on the creation of surprising environments, able to summon visitor participation and promote knowledge construction.

This is a museum aware of its social function and the symbolic presence it has in the city and in the country; a museum that assumes as a priority the contact with various audiences, which invests in educational and cultural programming, maintaining a strong connection with the community and the city. 

The Money Museum ensures accessibility and satisfaction to those who visit it at various levels: social, physical, cognitive. It is identified as a place of socialization that will provide services and interfaces of communication with the public of various formats - cafeteria, store, auditorium, library, reception areas, experimentation rooms.
