After a strong demonstration in 2017,  Portugal  continues to have an important moment. Porto - ranked 9th on last years list - climbed to 4th place in 2018, while Lisbon moved from 10th to 8th. Both cities were driven by an increase in direct flights from the continental United States. as an increase in social media exposure. And many of our readers mentioned how much they loved the local wines - and that their dollar went far there.

Paris is back on the list on the 12th. Again, its hard to imagine that the French capital is off anyones list. Our readers wrote in comments praising the milestones, the food and, yes, the people. "We heard that Americans were not welcome or treated," said one respondent. "We found just the opposite - Parisians were friendly and helpful almost everywhere."
