Faro Beach is the best beach in the Faro region and is easily accessible from the city via the regular bus service that also connects you to the airport (see later in this guide details of the bus service).

Faro Beach  is located on the Ancão Peninsula - a stretch of sand that extends for several kilometers, separating the lagoon system from the Atlantic Ocean. In the heart of Ria Formosa Natural Park, this area is characterized by a dune cord, formed by peninsulas and sandy islands that protect a vast area of marshland, canals and islets. The diversity of existing fauna and flora is one of the notable aspects.

Rescue swimmer service is provided at six beach posts. Since three of these beach posts are provided by Faro City Council and the rest are integrated in the three existing bathing supports. To this beach is also granted the concession of exploration of a recreational support.
