Galapinhos Beach in the list of the most stunning in Europe and Dona Ana Beach in Lagos
With spring in sight and summer no longer seeming to be unbeatable, the British newspaper Evening Standart has brought together the most beautiful beaches that Europeans should visit this year.
From a hidden gem along the Albanian Riviera to a famous celebrity spot in France to the Greek islands, the must-see beaches in Europe include three Portuguese. Galapinhos, in Setúbal, Albandeira and D. Ana, in the Algarve, are recommended in our
Galapinhos Beach in the Arrábida Natural Park
A pristine beach surrounded by greenery and clear, inviting waters, this beach may be close to a road, but it feels incredibly remote. Located in Arrábida Natural Park, a national park near Lisbon, be sure to explore the park through hiking and cycling trails.
How to arrive: Just a 1-hour drive from Lisbon, take the A12 before turning to Arrábida Natural Park on the N10. The beach is located in the national park and you will have to walk a short section to reach it.
Albandeira Beach in the Algarve
Portugals coastline is one of the best beach hunting spots in the world - and Albandeira is a jewel in its crown. Expect to be greeted by crystal clear waters, golden sand and yellow limestone cliffs. The secluded beach is famous for its impressive water arch and while there will be a handful of tourists around, this beach is still relatively unknown.
Getting there: Conveniently located between the Algarve, Faro and Lagos sights, from Faro to Albandeira is just a 50-minute drive away.
Dona Ana Beach in Lagos
If youre willing to put up with crowds in the high summer months to lie on one of the most beautiful beached beaches in the world, then Dona Ana Beach is for you. A classic Algarve cove is nestled between two sandstone cliffs with golden sand disappearing into the vibrant green and blue sea.
From Faro take a bus to Lagos. From Lagos, 25 minutes walk from the beach, from the city center.
In this list, the common tonic is that they are beaches a little off the beaten path - although Galapinhos and Dona Ana are constantly featured on “best of” lists.
