The Bread Museum is a private museum complex located in Seia, which displays and preserves the traditions, history and art of Portuguese bread. It opened to the public on September 26, 2002.
It is located in Quinta Fonte do Marão, in Seia, near Serra da Estrela, containing approximately 3,500m, four exhibition rooms and several other spaces of the museum complex.
In addition to the museum itself, this privately owned complex also houses a restaurant (with a menu where bread dishes are available), a bar (with library included), an old grocery store (where you can buy typical breads from different Portuguese regions) and a bread art studio (where the younger ones get their hands dirty).
The Bread Museum , based in Seia at Quinta Fonte do Marrão, is a private museum that aims to collect, preserve and display the objects and heritage of Portuguese bread in its ethnographic, political, social, historical, religious and artistic aspects.
The Bread Museum project dates back to 1996, arising from synergies created between historians, entrepreneurs and teachers. From that year 1996 until its opening on 26 September 2002, the estate has been collected either through antique dealers, bookstores and auctions or through donations.
