National Museum of Natural History and Science / Museums of the University of Lisbon (MUHNAC / MULisboa)
It is a body of the University of Lisbon whose mission is to promote curiosity and public understanding about nature and science, by enhancing its collections and university heritage, research, exhibitions, conferences and other actions of a character. scientific, educational, cultural and leisure activities. The Museum includes the sections of history and material culture of science, zoology, anthropology, mineralogy and paleontology. Its booty, from the scientific-cultural forum, is largely the result of the museums own research, and various scientific expeditions beyond donations.
It is a privileged place for researchers of all nationalities, which with the study of the preserved scientific heritage, allows the development of undergraduate, masters and doctoral theses.
The National Museum of Natural History and Science also produces or hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions, is also host to conferences, debates, promotes training courses as well as a variety of events always aiming at scientific, cultural and artistic dissemination.
The Museum also has a strong aspect related to the Plastic Arts, having exhibitions for 25 years in Sala do Veado. Currently, it has exhibitions of contemporary art in other places of its installations, such as the old shop, atrium or laboratories. It has had artists such as Sofia Areal, Jorge Molder, Miguel Branco, Ana Vidigal, Joana Vasconcelos, Alexandre Estrela, among others.
