Cacela Velha Beach of the Algarve best kept secrets Portugal

The  beach Cacela  or  beach Cacela Velha , also called  factory Beach  is a beach that is located on the western edge of the old Cacela Peninsula, south of the historic village of Old Cacela. It is integrated in the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It is characterized by its great extension, its warm and calm waters during the summer period and the beauty of its landscapes.

The beach is located at the extreme source of Cabanas Island, near Cacela bar, and can be reached by boat from the Cachoeira Velha Factory Site. This historic village, where it is worth appreciating the very white houses decorated with the traditional cobalt blue, was surrounded by rainfed orchards that stretch in gentle hills to the estuary.

The village grew around a medieval daughter-in-law and offers a magnificent view over the Ria Formosa, next to Fort D. Paio Peres Correia. Crossing the narrow arm of ria, the visitor is faced with a thin tongue of sand, deserted and wild, constantly changing by the action of the sea and the winds. It is in complete tranquility that one can contemplate the rich dune flora of this sandy barrier, only interrupted in places where the sea insists on climbing the natural wall, and the numerous birds that seek refuge in the dunes, such as the interrupted harlot , the turtledove, or the chirp.

Note : In order to contribute to the preservation of the site, the dune cord should be crossed using existing walkways and paths.
Boat access (provided by private vessels licensed for this purpose) from Sítio da Fábrica, about 1.5 km from Cacela Velha. Small and orderly parking at the Factory Site. It has no support equipment and usually has no bathing surveillance. Orientation: southeast.
GPS : 37 ° 94.55 "N 7 ° 3256.83" W
