Santa Justa Lift is a Lisbon skyline with a unique view.

One of Lisbons greatest attractions is the Santa Justa Lift, a must see if you are visiting the capital. It is also very crowded, the queues can be long and the price, although not very high, can be considerable if it is a family visit (5 € per person). If you want to enjoy the view and give up the elevator ride the solution is to walk up to the viewpoint. The route is not long and pleasant, although always uphill. You just have to go to Rua do Carmo, turn right at Rua Garret and then right, also at Calçada Sacramento. Arrives at Largo do Carmo.

There, to the right of the Archaeological Museum of Carmo, there is a street that leads us straight to the viewpoint. You only have to pay € 1.50 to climb the last flight of stairs and reach the top. The view is very worth it!

The Santa Justa lift in Lisbon is a must see tourist spot in the city. It is 5 € to take the ride in the old elevator that connects the two levels of the city (high and low). The tour consists of going up and down (when you want), but it is best to go up to the last level at the top and be impressed by the incredible views of the Portuguese capital.
Beautiful !!

The elevator leaves you at the top, and you have to climb a spiral staircase to reach the lookout, which is not a very large space, but offers one of the best views in town. You can see the main points of the city, such as São Jorge Castle, as well as the Tagus River ... wonderful.

You can also have a coffee and walk through the corridors, surrounded by the iron structure of the elevator and the lookout. At the exit, you will come across a very charming little square, with shops of all kinds. Must see monument in Lisbon.

The  Santa Justa Lift , also referred to as  the Carmo Lift, is a public transport system, located in the city center of Lisbon, in the district of the same name, in Portugal. It connects Rua do Ouro and Rua do Carmo off Carmoe is one of the most interesting monuments of downtown Lisbon. It consists of a metal tower where two cabins circulate, and a treadmill that connects the upper floor to the Carmo area. The elevators structure is made of cast iron, and uses a scheme inspired by the neo-Gothic style. It was built under the management of distinguished engineer Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, known for having done other projects of the same type in the national territory. This elevator has been planned since the 1890s, but the project was not approved by the Lisbon City Council until 1900 [, year in which the work began. During construction, one of the most impressive phases was the displacement of the viaduct and the support pillar to their respective positions, a maneuver that was performed by rotating the entire components. The elevator was opened in 1902.

The ticket office is located behind the tower, under the steps of Rua do Carmo. Passengers can get on or off the elevator inside two elegant wooden cabins with brass fittings.
