Inaugurated in 1998 as part of the last world exhibition of the 19th century. XX, whose theme was "The oceans, a heritage for the future", the Oceanarium eternalized Lisbons connection with the ocean. 



The Lisbon Oceanarium is a public aquarium of reference in Lisbon, Portugal and internationally. The equipment annually receives about 1 million people, who travel through its exhibitions, making it the most visited cultural equipment in Portugal.

The Lisbon Oceanarium was considered, for the third time, the "Best Aquarium in the World". The award was made by TripAdvisors Travelers Choice 2018, the worlds largest travel site. The Lisbon Oceanarium has an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 and already has 33,854 reviews, with 64% rating o as "Excellent" and 27% as "Very Good".
