Dom Diogo de Sousa Braga Regional Archeology Museum
The D. Diogo de Sousa Archeology Museum is an archeology museum located in Braga, Portugal. Created in 1918 and revitalized in 1980, the D. Diogo de Sousa Museum is an archeology museum , open to the public since June 2007 in a building built from scratch. Its collections are mainly constituted by the booty resulting from the archaeological research that has been carried out in the northern region, especially in the city of Braga. Its collection covers a vast chronological and cultural period, between the Paleolithic and the Middle Ages. The permanent exhibition is organized around four large centers. The first embraces the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age. From the geographical point of view, the area of provenance of these collections embraces the Minho region. In the other rooms, the collections come from Bracara Augusta and the surrounding territory.
