Portuguese Center of Photography Historic Center of Porto Portugal
The Portuguese Photography Center is housed in the prison building, Cadeia da Relação, located in the heart of Portos historic center, in Campo Mártires da Pátria, next to the Clérigos Tower.
The Portuguese Photography Center has been in existence since 1997 as a public service created by the then Ministry of Culture to ensure a national policy for photography. He is currently under the supervision of the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries and his mission is to safeguard, enhance and promote photographic heritage.
