The  Wool Museum , also known as  MUSLAN , is a Center of the University of Beira Interior, a body with administrative and financial autonomy under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

The  Wool Museum , integrated in the Portuguese Museum Network since 2002, has the mission of safeguarding the heritage associated with one of the oldest human industries, in a territory that, having as its headquarters the Serra da Estrela and the historic center of Covilhã, soon opened to international contacts. By visiting it we intend that, through the uniqueness, authenticity and exemplarity of the testimonies preserved in it, you will get to know better one of the oldest industries, the wool industry, which began to assert itself as a pure act of survival of the human species and was assuming , throughout the ages, a growing quality and artistic expression, which have accompanied the development of our societies to date.

“ The threads of the past weaving the future ”  is the motto of the Wool Museum which, in accordance with this principle, advocates an “active conservation” of its heritage.
