Martins Sarmento Archaeological Museum Guimarães Portugal
Sociedade Martins Sarmento is a Cultural Institution founded in 1881. To its valuable and diverse heritage belongs the "Martins Sarmento" Archaeological Museum, the main reference of the castreja culture in Portugal and one of the most important museums of all European space where that culture was manifested.
The museum is born in 1885 with the inauguration of a deposit of archaeological objects and from 1888 conditions were created for its proper installation in a gallery created on the beautiful cloister of S. Domingos (14th century).
