Visit the Paris Gallery Street in Porto Portugal


Opened in 1903, on the block formerly occupied by the Carmelite Convent, the buildings that flank the Rue de la Galeria de Paris are elegant and of good design, highlighting the number 28, Art Nouveau style house.

Throughout the second half of the twentieth century, the fabric warehouses were occupying much of the street buildings. At the corner of Paris Gallery Street and Carmelite Street are the popular Marques Soares Department Stores and on the other side is Fernandes, Mattos & C.ª, a tissue house founded in 1886.

From a sad and sparsely populated place in downtown Porto, the Galeria de Paris street soon became what is often referred to as one of the centers of the  busy  Porto city, a phenomenon similar to Bairro Alto. It all started in 2007, with the opening of a bar in an old bookstore. The varied calendar of events he has developed, especially jazz concerts, has triggered the emergence of other venues, making this a hot spot for Porto nightlife, especially for 

 

Paris Street Gallery

Created in the early 1900s with the objective of having a glass cover like the Galerias de Paris, hence its name, this street is nearby and features as characteristic of Porto as the Lello Bookstore, the Clérigos Tower and Church, among others, it was for a long time a sparsely populated place. 
However in 2007 with the opening of a first bar on this street, it gave it a new life and movement, bringing this bar others, and creating here one of the best night spots of Porto. A place that can be compared to Lisbons Bairro Alto, full of more or less cultural bars of all kinds,

 

 

More specifically, the Paris Gallery Street is located in downtown Porto. The former Carmelite convent was located there, a street with elegant buildings reminiscent of the original galleries of Paris. 

Until 2007 it was a lifeless street, especially at night. From that date onwards, however, this street, as well as this whole area, has come to life and is now part of the citys nightlife. On weekends its bars and restaurants are packed with people, with various events all over the place.

The offers of interesting places are numerous: More Club, Tonic Port, 3C Club, Place, The Gin Club, Once Upon a Time in Paris, La Bohème, Café au Lait, Book House, Alma , the well-known Galerias de Paris restaurant, the Rendez Vous and Plan B. A little closer to Avenida dos Aliados is Passos Manuel, the Pitch, the Zoom, the Bad Habits and the Boulevard Bar.
