Between the Atlantic Ocean and the Alentejo Plain, 45 km long, from the far end of the Troia Peninsula to Melides beach, the coast of Grândola is the longest stretch of beach in the country and the third largest in the world, a continuous spot of sand. The coastal landscape is characterized by a low coast of long sandy beaches.
Impossible to remain indifferent to almost 50 kilometers of golden sands and Blue Flag beaches .... an authentic paradise!
Grândola is again, this year, the Alentejo Municipality with more Blue Flags, with a total of nine beaches and a Blue Flag Marina.
The beaches of Melides, Comporta, Aberta Nova, Carvalhal, Pego, Atlantica, Bico das Lulas, Tróia-Galé and Tróia-Mar keep the Blue Flag, which also flies at Tróia Marina.
The award is given annually to beaches and recreational ports that meet a set of criteria of environmental nature, safety and comfort of users and environmental information and awareness. The Blue Flag is a symbol of quality that certifies compliance with a set of criteria related to water quality, information, education and environmental management, equipment, safety and services.
